work at home staffing
My rights at work, in a care home.?

I work as a carer. Recently, a male resident grabbed me and held me so that I couldn’t get away. He held me for quite a long time and then kissed my face and neck several times (I couldn’t get away from him without hurting him) and he held my breast.
It seemed to last for ages, but I eventually got away and left his room.
It has left me very nervous, I am new to care work (6 months) and I don’t want to lose my job because of this.
Do I have the right to refuse to do his personal care, or go into his bedroom alone?
I am bank staff, so do not work on his unit all of the time.
I don’t feel able to go back into his room again, in case he does it again
I reported it to the office, so the manager will know. They don’t seem to be taking it seriously.

Report the incident to your line manager.
Ask for someone else to come with you if you have to go in again.
Personal care should be done in pairs to prevent allegations of abuse.
